Bali itinerary 10 days – Our adventure packed couple trip

If you are a regular social media user, I am pretty sure you must have come across a plethora of images, videos from Bali. Today, I will talk you through my own – Bali itinerary 10 days.

Bali Itinerary 10 days

When we visited Bali in January 2018, it was still relatively new on Indian tourist’s radar. Consequently, we came across a lot less Indian tourists outside the touristy places of Kuta & Seminyak. Even Ubud had very few Indian tourists back then.

Since, I had done so much research while planning for my Bali trip, I have been happily helping my friends travel to Bali with different itineraries ranging from 5-14 days based on their needs and budgets. Just to be clear I am not a travel agent and I did the planning free of charge.

If you need visa related help, you can read my Bali/Indonesian Visa for Indians post.

So here’s how your 10 day itinerary would look like:

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 1 – Kuta | Legian | Seminyak

We arrived at Bali after taking an overnight Air Asia flight from India with a technical layover in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We arrived in the afternoon and our transport was booked in advance via Klook. It takes around 30-60 mins depending on the traffic to move from the airport to your accommodation in Kuta/Legian or Seminyak.

I recommend staying in Kuta/Legian for the initial 2-3 days of your trip as this place is the happening & party place of Bali. You would as if you have stepped into Goa in a carnival mode.

Accommodation Options

We stayed at Amnaya Kuta and I would highly recommend it.

TIP – Opt for the window seat as the descent into Bali grants some stunning views.

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 2 – Barong Kintamani Full Day Tour | Penglipuran

When we visited Bali, trekking to Mt. Batur was suspended due to the volcanic ash cloud. So we had to tweak the itinerary a little. In the morning we watched a Barong Dance performance, after which we headed to a place in Ubud to catch the glimpse of Mt. Batur and Mt. Agung.

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 3 – Bali Safari & Marine Park

We wanted to visit the Bali Safari & Marine Park as we had heard so many good things about it. We checked online and decided to book the full day trip through Klook.

For more details about the ticket cost, itinerary and where to book, read my detailed post on Bali Safari & Marine Park.

We had a great time at the park and enjoyed every bit of your time and the various shows they had. The Bali Agung show was the highlight of the whole visit.

TIP – Bali Agung show happens only 2-3 times on fixed days in a week, so please ensure that you travel on the day when it’s scheduled.

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 4 – Water Sports at Bali | Nusa Dua & Jimbaran

We had booked the water sports for the first half of the day. The whole package involved activities like Para-sailing, banana boat ride, Jet-ski ride and our personal favourite Flying Fish.

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 5 – White water rafting | Ayung River, Ubud

Another day, another Klook story, we booked the White water rafting on the Ayung river in Ubud. We were duly picked up from our resort and driven all the way to the rafting point.

The rafting is highly recommended not for the thrills but for the stunning scenery of the whole route.

After a hearty buffet lunch (which was ok), we moved to our hotel in Ubud.

Accommodation Options

We stayed at Mason Elephant Lodge.

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 6 – Balinese Spa | Pool Villa in Ubud | Uluwatu Temple

Today, we took it slow and relaxed. We had booked a Spa session in the first half of the day after which we came back to our pool villa and spent some time enjoying the facilities. Thereafter, in the evening we visited Uluwatu temple perched on the cliff and enjoyed the Kecak dance performance.

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 7 – Scuba Diving | Amed | Liberty Shipwreck

This was a big bucket list item for me. When we visited Bali, I had no swimming experience and was scared to death of water. In fact, I was foolish enough to take out the regulator 5m below the sea on my first dive. Luckily, my instructor was one amazing lady and quickly rescued me and got rid of my panic. So the first dive lasted just 10 mins.

After that we had lunch, and I somehow willed myself to do the second dive (it was one of the hardest things I ever did). But somehow I dived non-stop for next 45 mins and was able to go through some of the levels of the shipwreck. One heck of an experience.

After that we were too drained to do anything else and just came to the hotel, had dinner and crashed.

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 8 – Unplanned visit to Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida wasn’t a part of our itinerary when we initially planned the trip. It was a good Samaritan that we met during our white water rafting who introduced me to Nusa Penida. He had stayed there for 3 nights and showed me the photos from the place.

Needless to say, I didn’t need more convincing. I quickly dashed off some emails to the owner of Visit Nusa Penida website and asked him to organise a day tour for us tomorrow. He was kind enough to setup the tour without taking a single penny in advance.

Nusa Penida warrants a separate post and you can read in detail about my Nusa Penida travelogues here – Nusa Penida full day tour from Bali.

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 9 – Tanah Lot

Along with Uluwatu temple, Tanah Lot is one of the most famous temples in Bali. Ideally the best time to visit Tanah Lot is the sunset but a lot of it depends on the tide timings.

For today, the tide timings weren’t favourable for the evening, so we made a change to visit the temple in the morning and then chill the rest of the day and do some shopping as we were heading home tomorrow.

Bali itinerary 10 days, Day 10 – Heading back home.

Not much today, we had a late breakfast and checked out of our hotel and headed to the Airport in the evening. We spent some time at the lounge and then caught our flight back home.

Other Bali itineraries

If you noticed, my itinerary was pretty relaxed with almost half a day for our own leisure and relaxation on all days. Also, I missed out on Gilli islands, which I intend to cover in my next trip to Bali, along with spending more time in Nusa Penida, Lembongan & Cuningham. In case you are in a hurry then you can cram lots of sightseeing in a single day. So if you are short on time, then I would recommend the following itineraries.

5 days Bali itinerary

  • Day 1 – Kuta & Legian.
  • Day 2 – Mt. Batur hike in the morning & Uluwatu temple in the evening.
  • Day 3 – Water sports in the morning & Tanah Lot in the evening
  • Day 4 – Day trip to Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Penida
  • Day 5 – Head back to India

7 days Bali itinerary

  • Day 7 – Head back to India

2 week Bali itinerary

  • Day 1 to 6 – Same as 7 days Bali itinerary.

  • Bali Safari & Marine park.
  • 1 day for Scuba diving at Amed – Liberty Shipwreck.

Bali Itinerary 10 days – Expenses

We did the entire trip within ₹100000 for the 2 of us. The major reason for the low cost was the cheap airline tickets that we got in Air Asia sale (₹25000 return for 2 people). When it comes to service, Air Asia isn’t the best airline and I wouldn’t recommend flying Air Asia unless you get a cheap fare like we did.

Next major chunk of the expenses was our hotel stays – roughly ₹3000-4000/night on an average for 9 nights. So that’s ₹27000.

Rest of it was spent on tours and food. If you read all the articles you would know that we never really cut corners when it came to food and also relaxation. Klook alone easily saved us around ₹10000 for the 2 of us in terms of tour tickets and transfer costs.

How do we fund our travels?

Almost all the funding comes from our salaries as that’s the primary and only source of income for us. However, I am someone who believes that an optimal utilisation of your credit cards can fetch you some amazing rewards and save money at the same time.

You can read this post – Travelling with Credit cards about how I have saved almost ₹10000/year in last 3 years by using my credit cards wisely. Let me know in the comments if you found this whole travel blog helpful.
